Director supports Relay Teams in a modest way as of August 2022. This article describes the functionality available, which falls into three areas. 1/ You can define a Race as a relay by editing the race in Event Dashboard. 2/ Once you do that, any new individual registrations will be indicated to the end-user as a relay team entry and – depending on the settings chosen – will be pompted to input a Relay Team Name (which will be included in the Registration download). 3/ The Relay Team Name will be used in the Results List and View screens.

EVENT DASHBOARD
You can define a Race as a relay by editing the race in Event Dashboard. There are two available relay fields:

1. Relay? Toggle to indicate that this race is a relay (generally, relay and non-relay registrations should not be in the same Race – and Director does not support that.

2. Relay Team Name is the only additional property captured for Relay registrations. The Relay Team Names model selection controls how the relay team name should be captured. There are three options:

1. Standard: In this model, the registrant will be prompted to input a relay team name, which will be converted to uppercase and stored against the registration.
2. AlwaysStartsWithTeam: In this model, the end user will be prompted to begin their team name with the word “Team”. if they do not, the system will add it in for them.
3. Automatic: the system will automatically create the relay team name as “TEAM ” + team captain’s surname.

REGISTRATION EDITOR
For Relay races, the Relay Team Name will be shown in the Info sidebar. The shortcut menu next to the name will allow the Relay Team Name to be updated. Note: the field is mandatory for Relay races.

Public

When making an individual registration, if the Race being registered for is a relay, the on-page prompts will highlight that this is a relay race and that the person registering is “Team Captain”. Depending on the Relay Team Name model selected above, a prompt will appear at the very top of the registration form to input the Team Name. The Team Name is also shown on the cart screen.

Results

When a race is defined as a relay, the Results List, Results View and Search screens will display the team name instead of the individual’s name.
